All-In-One Flame Scanner D-LX 100 Expanded Specifications

Contents:

Application

The new DURAG D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor is the first system of its kind to meet current American and European flame monitoring standards. The D-LX 100 was designed for continuous, intermittent and 72-hour operation. The flame monitor's compact design integrates the flame scanner and amplifier into one compact housing. This greatly reduces overall cost and simplifies installation. Additional costs normally required for mounting the control electronics in a service cabinet or separate housing unit are no longer applicable.

The D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor has been developed to monitor flames in single burner systems. The integrated relay output may be used to interface with the fuel control valve. Applications for the D-LX 100 range from small heating plants to process combustion systems.

Function

After start-up, the D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor performs a self test. This test will be repeated continuously during operation. This technique provides complete and continuous self-checking capability to ensure proper and safe operation. The flames radiation intensity is converted by a high sensitive semiconductor photo element into an electrical flame signal. Only those signals are processed by the advanced dual-microprocessor system which correspond to flame flickering. Thus flame monitoring is not influenced by ambient light, as far as constant light is concerned. The flame recognition threshold of the D-LX 100 can be adjusted in the field using a manual switch. The flame failure response time can be set to either 1, 3 or 5 seconds. The flame intensity signal is available as an analog output. Status LEDs are provided so that the operator may easily diagnose any fault.

Design

Options

The D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor is designed for years of trouble-free service and built into a rugged NEMA 4x (IP 67) metal case.

For adapting the D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor to all technically significant burner types, fuels and firings, several flame monitor types with different spectral ranges are available.

The standard Flame Intensity current output is 0-20 mA; 4-20 mA is also available.

The standard front panel cover is metal; transparent plastic is also available.

The standard Safety Time setting is 1 s; 3 s or 5 s are also available.

Flame Monitor

D-LX 100 IG/IS Infrared
Flame Monitor

These flame monitors have a spectral sensitivity of either 190 to 520 nm or 280 to 410 nm. All blue-burning flames may be monitored by these flame monitors. Flames whose UV-radiation is absorbed by dust, water vapor or other materials, and which cannot normally be monitored by UV-tubes, may be monitored by these highly sensitive semiconductor UV-photo elements. These flame monitors have also proven themselves in monitoring gas and oil combustion systems employing NOx reduction techniques such as flue gas recirculation.

These IR flame monitors have a spectral sensitivity of either 300 to 1100 nm or 780 to 1800 nm, depending on the model. These flame monitors are ideally suited for monitoring yellow-burning flames of coal or wood, which have no or only very small portions of UV emissions. For monitoring oil flames, IR flame monitors are ideally suited, also when additional fuels are burned.

D-ZS 087-20 Setup Utility

D-LX 100 with D-ZS 087-20

A D-ZS 087-20 Digital Display can be connected to the D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor. Using this utility, the installation and adjustment of the D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor is greatly eased. By displaying the current flame intensity, the D-LX 100 Compact Flame Monitor can be aligned optimally to the flame. Further information such as minimum and maximum flame intensity are displayed as well as a recommended setting for the response threshold.
